JBAY TRIPLE CROWN

The ‘JBay Triple Crown’ is an exciting new development by the organisers of the JBay Wind Farm MTB Classic, which forms part of the JBay Winterfest this July.

The challenge – as the name suggests – is made up of three separate Strava segments. Two of these are on private land  and is open to all riders who register.

There are three segments, the first being down near Aston Bay at the Seekoei River along the purpose-built singletrack that used to form part of the Ultra Marathon in the early days of the JBay Wind Farm MTB Classic. This segment is 3.35km, flat and fast.  Featuring man-made wooden bridges and berms, the Seekoei River section is a special treat for riders.  The second runs for 5.98km behind the Lifestyle Centre in Jeffreys Bay. The third segment is tight and technical and should also ride fast over 4.75km out at the Zuurbron Bike Park, near Hankey.

The Zuurbron segment forms part of the 2018 85km Ultra Marathon route, while the segment near the lifestyle centre will form part of all three – 25, 50 and 85k – routes of the JBay Wind Farm MTB Classic on Saturday, 14th July 2018.

Full details of the segments are available through the event’s Facebook page and on Strava.

You don’t need to have entered the JBay Wind Farm MTB Classic to qualify to ride the challenge; however you do need to register (and pay a small entry fee) to be eligible for the prizes (and to traverse the private land).

There are two main prizes, a cash prize for the fastest male and female each, overall across the three segments, as well as a grand prize in the form of a lucky draw. Anyone who has completed all three segments and ridden in the JBay Wind Farm MTB Classic (any of the three routes) will be eligible for the special lucky draw prize –a Casio G-Shock to the value of R1 900 sponsored by Garbriel’s Jewellers – for our lucky draw prize on 14 July.
