One of the highlights of Jeffreys Bay Wind Farm’s SED initiative is a Reading Programme that has been implemented across twelve schools within a 50km radius of the wind farm.
This Programme incorporates a number of elements, namely training, resources employment, seeing work opportunities created for twelve previously unemployed graduates and matriculants. The programme also offers work experience, which is valuable for their future employment opportunities.
Included in the payment is a monthly stipend for the reading coaches and donation of books to each school involved in the programme
Training of the Reading Coaches commenced in August 2014, during the school holiday period when teachers and reading coaches received training.
